Academic Rules and Regulations

All students are considered to be the standard bearers of the goodwill of the College. To maintain an academic and comfortable environment at the college, students have to abide by the Rules and Regulations of the College, Failure to do so would result in prompt disciplinary action. The decision of the Principal and the Proctorial Board is final in all matters relating to violation of the rules and regulations. Students should note that they are under the authority and jurisdiction of the college during the college hours. Therefore, the students are advised in their best interest to comply with all the Rules and Regulations as laid down below:

 

1. Identity card:
All students are required to get their Identity Cards from the Admission Office and display the same during the college hours. Fine Rs. 50.00 will be charged if a student is found without the Identity Card in the college.
 If an Identity Card is lost, a duplicate card will be issued for Rs. 100.00. At the time of completion of program or in case of dropout  from the college, Identity Card must be deposited with the College Office.

 

2. Academic calendar:
An Academic Calendar is issued every year. The calendar provides a sequential listing of all the major curricular and co curricular activities planned for the entire academic year. Strict adherence to the academic calendar is ensured by the college administration. The academic calendar keeps the students and their parents/guardians informed of schedules and all developments taking place in the college. It is particularly beneficial for the parents who can plan their schedule better inline with the academic schedule of their children.

 

3. College Timings
Students are expected to be punctual. College gates are closed at 8 am throughout the academic year. Students are only allowed to leave the premises when the gates are re-opened at the  time,  fixed by the Principal.
– For medical reasons or emergency at home of a student, Gate Pass will be issued by the Principal Office, after confirming the gravity of the matter and completing all the formalities appropriate to the situation.
– Girls students can only leave campus early, when  accompanied by a parent or a guardian.

 

4. Attendance and Leave Rules
Successful completion of a program at ILM College requires that the student attends 80% of the schedule classes.
If the number of absenties exceed 20% of the total schedule classes, name of the student will not be considered for the board/university examination.
In exceptional circumstances, students may apply to the Principal for leave which may be sanctioned for genuine reasons. The approval of such leaves will not be acceptable as an excuse for not ensuring 80% of the attendance, which is a pre-requisit for becoming eligible to appear in the board/university examinations.

 

5. Payment of Dues
– Student may avail 10% tuition fee discount by depositing lump sum fee at the time of admission.
– Total Fee is payable in 6 instalments as notified by the College management through calender, subject to the following:
– The  fee package does not include:
-  Co-curricular activities fees
- Labs Fee
- Board / University Registration/ Examination Fee
Late payment of dues is subject to payment of additional charges as follows:
- Within 20 days after the due date: Rs. 25 per day
- Within 30 days after the due date: Rs. 50 per day
A student will be dropped from the roll if dues are not paid within 30 days of due dates.
 
6. Suspension of Admission/ Enrollment
Enrollment of a student is suspended in any of the following situations:
Unauthorized absence;
Non-payment of dues;
Behavior calling for disciplinary action;
Non-provision of evidence of passing the board examination,  in case of result awaiting students.

 

7.  Readmission
A student dropped from the college roll due to any reason other than rustication on disciplinary grounds may be re-admitted only once.
He will be allowed re-admission within ten days of the drop out,  otherwise his/her right to Re-admission is lapsed.
Re-admission will be permitted at the discretion of the Principal on payment of  Re-admission fee Rs. 5000/- in addition to the unpaid dues and fines.

 

8. Change of Subjects
Students may change a subject according to the rules of the Govt of the Punjab, Board and the University of the Punjab, within a period of 15 days from the Commencement of classes. Application for the change of subject will not  be entertained after the expiry of this period.

 

9. Internal Examination / Assessment
The academic performance of a student is monitored through a monthly test in addition to December test and End Term Examination. The monthly test is held within the 1st week of each month. The result of the monthly test is compiled by the 12th of each month. These results will be conveyed to the parents regularly through mail or e-mail. The internal assessment is evaluated in terms of Grades.
It is expected of all the students to take these tests seriously. Those who perform poorly in internal examinations and score 'D' grade in aggregate, will not be allowed to sit in the Board / University Examinations.

 

10. Missed Test Retake
A student who misses a test is awarded zero marks in the respective subject. However, in case of  emergency  retake is permitted. The student should apply to the Principal for retake  within 7 days with supportive documents.

11. Inter/Intra  College Transfer
Transfer from one college to another college shall be subject to the Migration Rules & Regulations of the relevant Board / University. provided:

Principals of both the colleges have no objection to it
A seat is available in the destined college
 
Transfer shall not be considered in the following cases:

The student is under disciplinary or academic punishment;
Disciplinary action is pending against the student;
Dues are outstanding against the student
