Introduction of Gujranwala
Gujranwala the pacemaker of the country is situated on Grand Trunk Road at a distance of 65 Kilo meters from Lahore towards Islamabad. It is famous for its traditional Wrestling achievements, tasty dishes and sweets and its commercial and industrial activity and contribution which is indeed matchless in the country. Walled city had 11 gates which are now surrounded by haphazard and some organized population colonies and numerous industrial units ranging from home industry to recognized and well established industrialist concerns. Presently the population of the City has exceeded 1.5 million.
The District Gujranwala lies between 310 to 47’ to 320 to 33’ north latitude and 730- 42’ to 740- 35’ east longitudes. The area is 3622 sq. kilometer that consists of flat plain. Nandipur mud is famous for its use in preparing cricket pitches even in countries like New Zealand and Australia. Canal irrigation system is well traversed and major agricultural crops are wheat and rice of very high quality that is appreciated and renowned the world once.
People of the city are religions diligent, patent and actively took part in the Pakistan Movement. In this regards the towering personality of Mualana Zafar Ali Khan as a poet and Journalist is glittering and glorious in the history of Pakistan Movement.
Philanthropists of Gujranwala are opening hearted, foresighted, and generous and have deep sense of their duty of works on social welfare. Establishment of numerous Trust hospitals and attain NGO’s are contributing in progress of city.
Gujranwala has shown tremendous progress in Educational field, however with the excessive growth in population the facilities in this sector are lagging behind and there is still a dire need for the Educational Institution like ILM Colleges that can impart quality education especially in the fields of science and commerce. |
